Preventative healthcare is vital

For this reason we provide a range of services to cater for your pets.  These include:-

Care of the new puppy or kitten

We offer a free health check on your new puppy or kitten, prior to first vaccination.  At this time we can advise on feeding, worming, toilet training etc.

Vaccination

All dogs and cats require annual booster vaccinations against the major infectious diseases, in addition to the primary course, given when they are puppies or kittens.  Each animal is given a clinical examination at the time of the booster, so it is an opportunity for an annual health check.  Puppies and kittens can begin their vaccination course from 8 weeks.  They require 2 injections to give them full protection.

Worming

All dogs and cats require regular worming, especially if in contact with children.  We recommend that puppies are wormed every two weeks until they are 12 weeks old, and then at a 1 - 3 monthly intervals  throughout their lives.  Hunting cats need to be wormed frequently for tapeworms.  We can advise on a suitable worming product for your pet.

Flea Control

Fleas can be aproblem throughout the year.  Prevention is better than cure, as tapeworms can be spread by fleas, and some animals are allergic to fleabites,  We can help you select the flea products best suited to your pet.

Neutering

If you do not intend to breed with your pet, we recommend neurering or spaying. This can be done from 5-6 months of age. As well as reducing numbers of unwanted puppies, early spaying of bitches leads to health benefits in later life.  Unneutered tomcats roam, fight, smell and have greatly reduced lifespans.
